500 run to rebuild Nepal
KATHMANDU: In memory of those people who lost their lives in the devastating earthquake of April 25 and to give tribute to people involved in the rescue, relief and rehabilitation work, Youth Network (Kathmandu), The White Zone-Nepal (Kathmandu), and YSP-Nepal (Ramechhap) organised ‘Run for Nepal’ on June 13.
According to press release issued by Youth Network, the run began from Patan Durbar Square at 7:30 am and ended at Bhugol Park, Basantapur. Senior actors Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya, Chief Secretary Nepal Leela Mani Paudyal, singer Ram Krishna Dhakal, comedians Shiva Hari Paudyal, Manoj Acharya, Surendra KC, Bhadragol teleserial team, CA member Shyam Kumar Shrestha, former ministers Ganesh Shah and Kamal Chaulagain among others participated in the event, according to the press statement. A total of 500 participants had taken part in the run.
It quoted that Paudyal stressed on the joint effort of all sectors in the rebuilding process where senior actor Shrestha said that the government should be supported by all in the rebuilding process.
Acharya underscored the importance of knowing our potential and not completely relying on foreign donors in the rebuilding process, the press release further states.
The funds raised from registration and sale of tee-shirts will be utilised in the citizen-led ‘Nepal Rebuilding Initiative’ in Ramechhap district, as per the press release.
