60 new laws required to implement Constitution

KATHMANDU: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Agni Prasad Kharel, said that the Ministry was preparing to devise 60 essential laws in the first phase of the implementation of the new Constitution.

“Concerned ministries have been asked to submit the draft bills to the Law Ministry within the second week of April as it is essential to make 60 laws for proper implementation of the Constitution,” Minister Kharel added.

He was speaking at a press conference organised in the Capital on Sunday.

The Minister also said consultations were held with concerned ministries and sectors towards that end.

“It is not possible to make all laws at once. Out of the total 315 laws, preparations are underway to make 193 at first,” he stressed.

According to him, his Ministry was doing homework to make 110 federal laws, 22 provincial laws and six local laws.
