96 banda enforcers arrested

KATHMANDU: Police said as many as 86 men and 10 women involved in enforcing a Nepal banda called by the United Democratice Madhesi Front and the Federal Alliance in protest of the Saptari incident were arrested from various places including the Kathmandu Valley on Friday.

Police said they were obstructing the vehicular movement and trying to enforce the general strike.

Kathmandu has the highest number of arrestees with 29 men and 4 women while others were arrested from Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Gorkha districts.

Meanwhile, police said the detainees are being interrogated.
