Absconding convict held
KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police on Friday arrested a person, who had been absconding after being convicted of a banking fraud.
A special team from CIB apprehended Purna Bahadur KC, 47, of Kavre, from Maharajgunj. He was sentenced to three years in prison along with a fine of Rs 25 millionĀ the amount he had taken from Capital Merchant Banking and Finance Company Ltd and defaulted.
The Patan Appellate Court had issued the verdict against KC in absentia on May 12 last year.The court convicted KC under the Banking Offence and Punishment Act, 2008. Khadka has been sent to the Central Jail.
