Absconding murder attempt suspect held after 3.5 years

KATHMANDU: A police team deployed from the Metropolitan Crime Division arrested an absconding murder attempt suspect after three and half years.

The team led by DSP Ajaya KC arrested Yogendra Lama (31) aka Wala of Pokhari Narayansthan in Kavre district from Lazimpat yesterday, a press release issued by the MCD issued today informed.

Currently residing at Purano Baneshwor, KMC-34, Lama was found to be involved in hooliganism these days.

Meanwhile, police said the suspect has been sent to the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range for further investigation and action today itself.

Preliminary police investigations have revealed that Lama was involved in a murder attempt of two persons with a sharp weapon in 2013. He was on the run since then.

Likewise, he was charged with a public offence case in 2010 for his involvement in a robbery case. He had brandished a khukuri to rob a person of Rs 7,000 cash, an iPhone and a Samsung mobile phone in Bouddha area of the Capital.

Recently, Lama was held for hooliganism and was charged with a public offence case. He had served 21 days in jail before being released on Rs 10,000 bail.
