Absconding murder convict arrested

KATHMANDU: An absconding murder convict has been arrested by a police team deployed from the Central Bureau of Investigation, from Bagdol of Lalitpur district on Wednesday.

Anil Maharjan (26) of Teku, KMC-13, was convicted by the Kathmandu District Court on November 29, 2012 for not stopping one Sujan Shahi from stabbing local Rujen Shahi, Deepak Shahi and Dilkaji Shahi after a scuffle during the Panchare festival on April 4, 2011.

Rujen Shahi had died in course of treatment on the same day. Subsequently, Maharjan was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu District ordered that Maharjan be sent to the Central Jail for execution of the sentence today itself.
