Absence of chief hits TSC activities

Kathmandu, June 23:

All activities of the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) have been stalled due to the absence of its chairman for the past two-and-a-half months.

While the process of teachers’ promotion, publication of the results of the temporary teachers’ examination and the teachers’ license examination have been hit, no administrative and academic decisions have been made due to the chief’s absence. A total of 12,096 temporary teachers are still waiting for their results, though set rules have it that the results must be published within six months after the exams.

The Teachers’ Service Commission became non-functional after all those appointed during the royal regime were dismissed from their posts.

This is the first time that the government has made a special provision for those temporary teachers who have worked for over a year to compete for 50 per cent of the vacant permanent posts. A total of 25,000 posts of permanent teachers are lying vacant currently.
