‘Absence of stable govt increases foreign meddling’

Bhaktapur, July 31

Pashupati Shumsher Rana, chairperson of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, today said the risk of foreign interference increased in absence of a stable government.

Speaking at an interaction in Bhaktapur today, Rana said the new alliance of Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre was likely to remain in power for a long time and that his party would decide whether or not to join the new government only after holding talks with the alliance leaders.

He said after unification, the RPP would emerge as one of the most powerful political forces in the country. He also said that the country could not move ahead without addressing the genuine concerns of the Madhes-based parties.

“The hill districts in western Nepal should be separated from the two Madhes provinces and the state restructuring commission should be allowed to resolve the remaining problems,” he said.

He also suggested that the new government strengthen its relationship with the northern neighbour. “Nepal is eagerly waiting to welcome the Chinese president in the country,” he added.
