Activists including Krishna Pahadi held during anti-blockade demo

KATHMANDU: As many as 35 human rights activists were detained from a sit-in they were staging in front of the Lainchaur-based Indian Embassy against the unofficial blockade imposed by India.

The detainees include veteran rights activist Krishna Pahadi and Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES) President Gangadhar Adhikari among others.

The human rights organisation for last few weeks has been staging protests against India for imposing the unofficial blockade on Nepal and against the Nepali government for inefficiency to end the crisis.

They were detained as soon as the activists began the sit-in at around 1 pm today, according to the HURPES.

They have been kept at the Nepal Police Club in Bhrikutimandap of the Capital.
