After arrest of national footballers, police in dilemma on which law applies to match-fixing

KATHMANDU: Police are still in dilemma which laws would be applied to file case against the Nepal national team footballers, who were arrested for their alleged involvement in match-fixing in national and international games and their alleged nexus with bookies.

Nepal does not have specific laws on match-fixing. Perhaps, this is the first time national players have been arrested on the charge.

It has been learned that officials at the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) are discussing which of the existing laws would be applied in such cases.
