Agitating Bar's 12-point memo to Chief Justice Karki

KATHMANDU: A 12-point memorandum has been submitted to the Chief Justice Sushila Karki in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

Nepal Bar Association and Supreme Court Bar Association jointly submitted the memo to the Secretariat of Chief Justice, Sushila Karki, demanding an end to anomalies and aberrations in the judiciary as well as resolving problems of legal practitioners.

The memo also demanded to find out solution collectively within three days to improve weaknesses of both sides as Supreme Court and Bar are supplementary to each other.

The memo includes that transparency was not maintained in course of recommending the name of judges at high court and neglecting the demand of appointment of at least 50 per cent judges from legal practitioners, supreme Court's indifference towards the issues raised by Bar and court time and again and immediate formation of constitutional bench.

Similarly, issuing a joint press release on Tuesday, Nepal Bar Association and Supreme Court Bar Association said that their attention has been drawn towards the defamation caused to the pride and trust of the judiciary following the recent appointment of the high court judges.
