Khadka returns

KATHMANDU: Vice chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC) Narayan Khadka returned here on Thursday after participating in the 58th ministerial meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) held in Bangkok. Vice-chairman Khadka said that discussions were held on sustainable economic development, problems and challenges and alternative policies in the changing world context. According to Dr Khadka, discussions were also held on cooperating in the collection of data and information besides expressing commitment to cooperating in the technological field for eradicating poverty, and on how poor countries like Nepal can become capable under globalisation. Nepal was for the first time elected unanimously to chair the meeting of the commission. RSS
