Marking the 25th anniversary of the first reported case of what later came to be known as HIV/AIDS, the Himalayan Social Welfare Organisation (HSWO) today held a cycle rally from Kathmandu to Birgunj to make people aware, especially youths, about AIDS.

Four BE final year students of the Pulchowk Engineering College (IOE) started 225-km journey to Birgunj. They are expected to cover the distance by September 26.

According to the organisers, the participants will convey and share information about HIV/AIDS with people, distribute pamphlets, brochures, posters, leaflets and red ribbons (HIV sign), paste posters about HIV and AIDS at junctions.

The awareness campaign is organised in collaboration with the UNDP, Nepal Red Cross Society, Safe Motherhood and Pulchowk Engineering Campus.
