Al-Kawari solicits Nepal support for UNESCO candidacy
KATHMANDU: Qatar’s candidate for the post of Director General at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal in Baluwatar, Kathmandu on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Al-Kawari had asked the PM to vote for him in the coming election for the UNESCO Director General.
Praising the contribution of Nepali migrant workers in Qatar's development, Al-Kawari expressed his commitment to work for welfare of the Nepalis in the Gulf state.
Meanwhile, Dahal assured that Nepal would support to elect him in the post.
Mentioning that the two countries had friendly relations for years, the PM hoped for Qatar's assistance for Nepal's development in the coming days too.
Similarly, Al-Kawari also met Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat today.

The UN position hopeful tweeted after the meeting that the Minister endorsed his candidacy.
He had called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari yesterday.
Qatar is the 72nd country to start diplomatic relations with Nepal on January 21, 2017.
