All should help for peace: Bohara

Kathmandu, June 11 :

CPN-UML leader Amrit Bohara today said that all political parties and civil society should help the government in holding talks with the Maoists and prevent any incidents that may hamper the on-going peace process.

Addressing the seventh national convention of the Progressive Writers’ Association, Bohara said the House of Representatives should continue till it accomplishes all its duties.

Lilamani Acharya, the vice-chairman of Jana Morcha Nepal, said the political management is more important than management of the Maoists’ arms.

“Those who either demand immediate dissolution of the House and those who say that elections to a constituent assembly must be held only after the arms are managed are trying to disrupt the talks,” he said.

Acharya also urged the political parties not to forget the contribution of the Maoists in making the recent people’s movement a success.

Chandra Khanal, a central committee member of the CPN-Maoist, said peace is the only desire of the people, and requested all parties and civil society and professionals to contribute in making the talks a success.

Khanal said that the People’s Liberation Army is not going to be a hurdle in the peace process. He said the party is ready to let the army be supervised by an international institution.
