Andolan victims’ kin to meet

Kathmandu, June 22 :

Victims of the Jana Andolan and families of those killed during the movement are organising a mass meeting on June 24 at the Nepal Law Campus to step up pressure on the government to address their demands, a statement issued today said.

“The mass meeting has been called to bring together all the Jana Andolan victims and martyrs’ families in Kathmandu. The government should declare the victims of Jana Andolan as democratic fighters and provide them with free education, health services, transportation facilities, employment opportunities and immediate relief, allowance and compensation,” the statement said.

The government formed after the people’s movement is hesitating to take responsibility and meet the demands of the victims and martyrs’ families. “If the government fails or hesitates to address these issues we will once again take to the streets to make our demands heard,” the statement added.
