ANNFSU announces protest programmes in campuses

The All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) today announced various protest programmes in all the campuses across the country to mark the ANNFSU’s Promotion Day on March 27. According to Bal Gopal Upadhaya, Free Students’ Union president of the Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus and secretary of the ANNFSU’s Promotion Department, the protest programmes would be targeted against the February 1 royal takeover. Shankher Pokhrel, a central committee member of the CPN-UML, held a special meeting with the National Council members of the ANNFSU and collected their opinions regarding the current political changes.

Meanwhile, the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU), today demanded immediate release of Prachanda Bikram Neupane alias Guntu, secretary of the Free Students’ Union at Tri-Chandra college, and Madhukar Khanal, former president of the NSU’s Public Administration Campus unit. They were arrested from the campus premises five days ago. The NSU said the detainees’ families had been denied visits and their whereabouts were not known. “Denial of visits by family members is an inhuman act,” a press release issued here said.
