ANNFSU seeks action against YCL cadres
Kathmandu, January 1:
The Ratna Rajya Campus unit of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) organised a chakka jam for half-an-hour this morning to protest yesterday’s incident in which YCL cadres thrashed seven ANNFSU cadres and a former VDC secretary at a programme organised by ANNFSU primary committee of the Jana Bikas Higher Secondary School at Salmechakal, Kavre.
Surendra Basnet, central committee member of ANNFSU, demanded that the YCL members be booked and punished as per existing laws. He threatened to retaliate if such activities continued.
“We are not going to tolerate this anymore,” said Bal Gopal Upadhyaya, central committee member, adding that the Maoists should leave the government if they wanted confrontation. He said a few of the injured ANNFSU leaders of Kavre were airlifted to Kathmandu and were receiving treatment at the Teaching Hospital.
Meanwhile, Maoist students wing, All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), today organised another protest meeting in front of Amrit Science College (ASCOL) and urged students’ unions to maintain restraint. At least six ASCOL students, including four affiliated to ANNISU-R were injured in clashes yesterday.
Lekhnath Neupane, ANNISU-R president, urged cadres not to attack anyone.
Ratna Dhakal, central committee member of ANNISU-R, said the committee leaders today visited the union offices at ASCOL and Saraswoti campus.
