ANNISU-R pickets PU office

Kathmandu, November 20:

The All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) today picketed the Purbanchal University’s contact office at Sinamangal for 15 minutes.

Ishwor Poudel, coordinator of the ANNISU-R’s Purbanchal University Coordination Committee, said they picketed the PU’s contact office as part of symbolic protest demanding immediate implementation of 25-point agreement signed between the committee and the PU.

He said, “The appointment of a new examination controller after the completion of tenure of previous controller, Ishwor Baniya, is against the 25-point agreement. We want the appointment of exam controller as per the agreement.”

According to the agreement, PU can’t give affiliation to any new college that lacks proper infrastructure. The university has to form a monitoring committee to inspect physical and educational infrastructure of the colleges that apply for affiliation. PU should publish the yearly income and expenditure of all the colleges.

The student committee also warned of launching an agitation against the PU if it ignored implementing the agreement.
