Kathmandu, October 3:

The US embassy today announced that applications for the Diversity Visa lottery will open on Wednesday until December 4 for all Nepalis aspiring to compete for the same. The embassy also outlined the necessary procedures for filling up the DV application.

The outline is also helpful to those who have won the 2006 lottery but have yet to be actually awarded the visa. Saying that winning the lottery was not going to guarantee entry visa, the embassy has made it clear that no one can expect visa on the basis of work experience. The applicant must have passed 10 + 2 or equivalent or should have work experience as demanded under US Department of Labour to be eligible to apply for the visa to migrate to the US. Aspiring people have been advised not to apply for visa if the conditions are not met.

Anyone who might not have given the details of dependents while applying may not be entitled to visa. Similarly, those who had not given the details of the dependents while applying for the first time may not be picked up at all. No consultants are allowed to work for any visa applicants.

Entries mailed through postal services will not be entertained for the lottery, a press release issued by the embassy said.

Meanwhile, interviews of those who had won the lottery for 2006 commenced on Saturday.
