Assets of transport associations to be probed

Kathmandu, May 15

The government has stepped up the process of investigating assets, including cash and shares, of transport entrepreneurs’ associations registered under the Associations Registration Act, 1977.

A meeting of Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth, Nepal Rastra Bank’s Governor Chiranjibi Nepal and other concerned agencies today decided to direct all chief district officers to prepare a soft copy of details of movable and immovable property of transport entrepreneurs’ associations and send it to the MoHA.

The government had withheld the bank accounts of 245 transport entrepreneurs’ associations for protesting the move to break the transport syndicate.
