Attack on refugees condemned
Kathmandu, June 7:
The Core Working Group on Bhutanese Refugees in Nepal has expressed concern about attacks and escalating threats against Bhutanese refugees seeking third-country resettlement and the humanitarian workers, who assist them.
The group comprises governments of Australia, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway and the United States. Issuing a press release yesterday, the group said: “Attacks by groups opposed to third-country resettlement reveal fundamental disregard for the welfare of the people whose cause they claim to promote.” The group called on the government to punish the perpetrators of the attacks.
