AG Kharel pledges speedy delivery of justice

KATHMANDU: Attorney General Agni Prasad Kharel today said preparations were under way to fast-track adjudication of cases of serious nature.

At a function organised to lay the foundation of a new building of the Office of the Attorney General at Ramshah Path,  where cases of rape and murder would be heard, he said, the offices of government attorneys across the country had been directed to take all possible measures to respond, prosecute and execute such cases promptly, ensuring justice to the victims as soon as possible.

The employees concerned would be imparted training and orientation on new issues incorporated in the new Civil Code Act and Criminal Code Act.

Deputy Attorney General Khagaraj Poudel expressed his hope that the construction of a new building would be helpful in justice delivery.

Nepal Bar Association Chair Sher Bahadur KC called for collaboration between the Office of the Attorney General and NBA for bringing reforms in the judiciary.

The new building will have seven storeys and will spread in eight ropanis of land (43,808 square feet).

The National Reconstruction Authority’s district-level project implementation unit has signed a contract with the Sharma-Samanantar JV Kathmandu to construct the building at the cost of Rs 795 million.
