Bandh enforcers torch Sajha Yatayat bus at Balaju Bypass

KATHMANDU: Two unidentified persons on Saturday afternoon torched a Sajha Yatayat bus while it was awaiting passengers at Balaju Bypass of the Capital.

A staffer at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju, said two personed entered the bus (Ba 4 Kha 5648) as passengers, made an elderly woman onboard the bus to get off the vehicle and sprayed petrol to set it on fire.

However, some police personnel saw the flames and immediately doused it.

"Only four seats have been gutted," he informed.

The arson attackers had already fled the scene while police reached there.

Police suspected that the duo were members of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist party, which had called a bandh today against the death of a Nepali citizen in a fire opened by Indian border security personnel in Kanchanpur on Thursday.

The bandh did not have any effect in the Valley life today.
