KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 27
The casualty count has risen to three following a suspicious explosion at a workshop in Nijgadh Bazaar of Nijgadh Municipality-7 in Bara on Monday afternoon.
Earlier findings from police investigations unveiled that the blast took place at Rohit Workshop, belonging to Resham Magar, around noon after a gas cylinder exploded while welding work was underway. However, further scrutiny into the incident has raised suspicions regarding the actual cause of the explosion.
Magar had sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Vayoda Hospital in Birgunj, where he succumbe to his injuries while undergoing treatment the same day, as quoted by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and spokesperson at the District Police Office Bara, Dadhiram Neupane, to RSS.
In the incident, Surya Bahadur Thapa (45) from Nijgadh-5, Firodh Dewan (34), Ritu Rajat (20) from Birgunj Metropolitan City-9, Rajesh Jaiswal (35) from Gawai, India, and Arbin Sah from Ramghadawa, India, were injured and were rushed for treatment in various hospitals.
The casualty count has risen to three as two more victims, Ritu Rajat from Birgunj and Indian national Rakesh Jaiswal, succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment, today.
Police have stated that other injured individuals remain in critical condition.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing, and two individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ramesh Jaiswal from Bihar and Tikaram Pakhrin from Nijgadh.
