Kathmandu, July 13:

State Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, Urmila Aryal today said that the ministry would reconsider the cabinet’s decision to reappoint Dr Prabha Basnet as member-secretary of the Social Welfare Council (SWC).

Talking to this daily, Aryal said that since the SWC could not remain defunct for long time they would reconsider the cabinet’s proposal regarding reappointment.

The Ministry, the Committee of Employees’ Association of the SWC and the NGOs’ Federation held a talk regarding employees’ protest against the cabinet decision to reappoint Dr Basnet. Employees have been protesting against her reappointment since July 4. “Though Aryal has assured of taking up the issue to the cabinet meeting and asked the employees to resume work, they have sworn not to resume work unless the cabinet scraps it decision,” said Suresh Pandit.
