Be sensitive on polls issues, CEC tells govt

Kathmandu, January 24:

Chief Election Commissioner Bhojraj Pokhrel today urged the government to be sensitive on issues related with the election.

Talking with the members of parliament at the Parliamentary Constituent Assembly Monitoring Special Committee Pokhrel said that the government has to prioritise and work for management of security for the election.

“The tendency of the government staffers in the Tarai to flee their offices and the new staffers not willing to work in the region may cause problem in conducting a free and fair election,” he said.

He also said that the government should provide “space” for parties other than those from the seven-party alliance because they have also registered in the Election Commission for participating in the CA polls.
