Best performing cops to be awarded

Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, in association Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd has established ‘Kathmandu Police Award’ to honour cops from the rank of constables to DSPs, who deliver best performance in the fight against crimes, every month.

MPR in-charge SSP Bishwa Raj Pokharel and NBBL executive director Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana signed a Memorandum of Understanding to this effect today. For this, NBBL will provide MPR with Rs 1.8 million to distribute cash prize to meritorious cops for one year.

SSP Pokharel said performance evaluation of police personnel would start from today itself. Cops delivering best performance will be awarded from the month of April. “The award is intended to make police personnel more accountable to their duties and responsibilities for the service of people and in the fight against crimes, and to make the police department corruption-free,” he informed.

Constable will get a cash prize of Rs 10,000, head constable Rs 15,000, ASI Rs 20,000, SI Rs 25,000, inspector Rs 35,000 and DSP Rs 50,000 each month for one year. Dhungana said the association with MPR was renewable. “It is part of our corporate social responsibility. We could renew the agreement on the basis of its results,” he informed.
