KATHMANDU: Top leaders of big three political parties - Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist - held a meeting on Saturday morning to discuss the ongoing talks with the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front.

According to UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's website, the meeting concluded that progress made by task forces of the Big III and the UDMF was positive.

The leaders were hopeful that the talks could be concluded by Sunday, according to a post on Dahal's website.

The national news agency Rastriya Samachar Samiti quoted NC Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel as saying that the meeting decided to sign a written agreement with the protesting parties before the Parliament meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the task forces are holding a meeting on Saturday afternoon to find consensus on demands of the agitating alliance. The meeting has been scheduled for 3 pm.

The task forces had also held a meeting yesterday.

Though no any concrete result has been seen so far, the negotiators of both sides have been claiming that the talks are going positively of late.
