Big III stress on unity despite divisions in PM, presidential elections

KATHMANDU: Top leaders of three major political parties have stressed on unity among them despite their divisions in elections of Prime Minister and President recently.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said there is no alternative to all parties moving ahead together in the current difficult situation.

Talking to journalists at a luncheon he organised today at his official residence in Baluwatar on the occasion of the promulgation of the constitution, PM Oli said the government was effortful towards easing the daily life as per the public aspiration.

He also expressed the confidence that the supply of essential goods would become easier soon.

The Prime Minister said it was inappropriate for any side to protest the Constitution and disrupt the public life when the political parties have already implemented the Constitution for the national interest in deference to the public aspiration.

Reiterating that the government was serious on resolving all problems by means of talks and dialogues, he urged the agitating sides to extend support in resolving the problem through dialogues.

On the occasion, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala said that although his party was in the opposition, it would remain committed to resolving the problem faced by the country, stressing that the political issues should be addressed politically.

Chairman of the UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal spoke of the need of cooperation and collaboration among the major parties to face the challenges related to the implementation of Constitution following its promulgation.

He said only the cooperation and collaboration among the political forces including the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist could fulfill the hope and trust of people, expressing the hope that the Nepali Congress would not severe the common journey ahead.

Leaders and lawmakers from the ruling parties as well as the opposition parties were present in the all-party luncheon hosted by PM Oli.

However, the Madhes-centric parties that are in agitation were not present in the function.
