BIMSTEC retreat begins
KATHMANDU: The heads of states/governments of member countries of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) have met at Soaltee Crowne Plaza for the retreat where they are likely to hold informal talks.
The heads of states/governments are accompanied by their spouses.
Chair of the fourth BIMSTEC summit and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli along with his spouse Radhika Shakya greeted the dignitaries at the venue. Panchakanya (a group of five young girls) had welcomed the guests by garlanding them.
The retreat is also being attended by ministers of external affairs/foreign ministers/state ministers of the BIMSTEC member countries.
Nepali Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali welcomed them. Likewise, Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shanker Das Bairagi greeted secretaries of ministry of external affairs/foreign ministry of the member countries.
The BIMSTEC VIP and VVIP guests were greeted by playing the national anthems of all member countries in the background.
Following the completion of breakfast, heads of states/governments are scheduled to take a break for personal dialogues, after which they are slated to take a group photo, Chief of Protocol Dipak Adhikari was quoted as saying in Rastriya Samachar Samiti.
