Biswakarma’s assurance

Lalitpur, January 5:

Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Chabbi Lal Biswakarma, has said that a bill relating to the National Cooperatives Bank would be presented before the current session of the Parliament.

Inaugurating the fourth annul general meeting of the National Cooperatives Bank Limited here today, he said the government is trying to resolve the problems facing the cooperatives sector.

Chairman of the National Cooperatives Association, Dipak Prakash Baskota, said the VAT levied on cooperatives should be dissolved and demanded that the VAT amount paid so far should also be returned. Expert on Cooperatives, Keshav Badal, said the National Cooperatives Board Act should be formulated to replace the National Cooperatives

On the occasion, Chairman of the Bank, Rajeshhari Joshi disclosed that the bank made a total income of about Rs 3.5 million and as a result the bank was giving four per cent bonus to its shareholders. The bank has 1,300 share holders in 56 districts of the country.
