Blast victims mourned at funeral

KATHMANDU: Around fifteen hundred people including Nancy J Powell, US ambassador to Nepal, on Tuesday bid a last farewell to Celestina Joseph and Deepa Patrick who were killed in the weekend's bomb blast at the Assumption Church.

Family members, students of St. Mary’s School and St.Xavier School along with the other people attending the funeral procession were seen with teary eyes and grieving hearts. The tribute was organised by the Assumption Church.


DK Rai, the class teacher of St. Mary’s school hailed Celestina as an obedient student who was eager to participate in different curriculum activities of the school. Prathistha Bhandari, a classmate of Joseph, remembered Joseph as helpful and a true friend whom everyone would miss a lot.


“Although death is natural to all, untimely death caused by the attack is painful” viewed Bishop Anthony Sharma, Vicar Apostolic of Nepal adding that they condemned such type of inhuman activities. He conducted the last ritual of the funeral with representatives of Fathers from across the nation.
