Kirtipur, July 11:
Blind and disabled students at Technical and Skill Development Centre for Blind and Disabled are all set to stage a drama ‘Dark to Light’ in a bid to raise funds for the construction of the centre’s dining hall. The students have been doing rehearsal since last two weeks to perform on July 15 at 1905.
The play presents the rural backdrop where a man from economically backward family sets to pursue employment in Malaysia despite his family’s objection. A blind agent who is supposed to fix his employment abroad turns out to be fraud. He loses all the money that he has managed to arrange for plane tickets by selling his family property.
Jogendra Siwakoti, writer of the play and visually impaired student at the centre said, “This play reflects poverty and my uncle’s experience who was deceived by the agent.â€
Rasmi Dangol, one of the actresses in the play said, “We were reluctant in the beginning at an idea of performing for strangers but gradually we are enjoying it.†Every day rehearsals have helped them to open up who were otherwise very shy.â€
