Kathmandu, June 1:

A 559-member civic main organising committee, Sinamangal, was formed on Wednesday to celebrate King Gyanendra’s 59th birthday under the chairmanship of social worker Tara Devi Ghimire, according to a press statement issued by the organising committee.

The King’s birthday falls on July 7.

The organisers said they would hold a clean-up drive at the Open Air Theatre, Ratna Park, organise a free health camp at Madhyapur Thimi and also distribute food to the disabled at Khagendra Nawa Jeevan Kendra, Jorpati. Besides these programmes, several other welfare ventures have also been planned.
