BP Koirala’s 103rd birth anniversary commemorated
Kathmandu, September 11
BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation and the Embassy of India organised a talk programme with the renowned Professor Abhi Subedi to mark the 103rd Birth Anniversary of Late Nepali congress leader BP Koirala on Sunday in Kathmandu.
Professor Subedi spoke about the life and literary journey of BP focusing on his poetic thought on guiding political ideology. He urged the leaders and commoners to explore Koirala’s notion of value guided politics and ethical behaviour.
“Becoming human is more important than becoming powerful, since only a human can explore human freedom and enjoy democratic values,” said Subedi, referring to B.P’s famous quote — ‘Become a gentleman rather than a successful one’.
Addressing Professor Subedi’s talk, Indian ambassador to Nepal Maanjeev Singh Puri complimented the BP Koirala Foundation for playing a crucial role in promoting and fostering linkages between India and Nepal.
The program was attended by Vice-chancellor of Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, Saru Bhakta and Hindi writer Ram Dayal Yadav.
