Bridegroom found dead, ex-girlfriend suspected

KATHMANDU: Mukunda Kunwar (20), who was engaged with Sunita KC, was found dead in Godavari Jungle, Lalitpur on Tuesday. The body was found dangling from a tree.

The victim's lower and upper limbs were tied with a rope. The police, however, ruled out suicide and named Sarada Thapaliya, his ex-girl friend as prime suspect. It is learnt that Sarada perpetrated the murder after Mukunda, hailing from Kavre, broke up his relationship with her and engaged with another woman.

The police have arrested Sarada and three others for investigation. Mukunda was working for PNC Fitness and Health Center at Kumaripati in Lalitpur for the past seven months. According to Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, Sarada was also an employee there.

It was learnt that they were not in good terms later on. Their wedding party was also fixed for March 1. But Mukunda was missing since last week. Mukunda's kin had lodged a complaint to the police after he failed to show up for wedding. Sunita had reportedly warned Mukunda not to tie a nuptial knot with Sunita, informed an investigating officials.

SP Bikram Singh Thapa, in-charge, MPR said the body has been referred to TU teaching Hospital at Maharajgunj in Kathmandu for post-mortem.
