Budget for groundwater conservation

LALITPUR: Lalitpur sub-metropolis has allocated Rs 5 million this year for water source conservation in the local area and to minimise the supply of drinking water.

Due to excessive drawing of underground water in Lalitpur, most of the stone taps, ponds and other sources of water have dried up. The office has planned to collect the rainwater for water reservation in underground level in a bid to conserve water sources. Binod Prasad Singh, chief executive officer of the sub-metropolis said necessary reconstruction of Saptapatal, Purnachandi and New Pokhari had started.
