Bus-hit kills man

LALITPUR: A person died after a bus hit a scooter he was riding at Pulchowk on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Ibhan Amatya, 18, of Kaldhara, Kathmandu. DSP Kisan Singh Thapa of Metropolitan Police Range, Jawalakhel, said a bus belonging to Gyanodaya School had hit his scooter at around 7:30am. Amatya died while undergoing treatment at Alka Hospital. Police have arrested Jayashwor Shrestha, the bus driver, for investigation.

Two thefts in city

KATHMANDU: Police said that two incidents of theft were reported in the Capital on Saturday and Sunday. Property worth around Rs 150,000 was stolen from an unattended room near Dibya Party Palace in Bouddha on Sunday. According to a complaint lodged with police, thieves stole Rs 30,000 in cash, two laptops and a mobile phone from Lila Rai’s  room. Similarly, cash and gold ornaments worth around Rs 120,000 was stolen from the house of Sanu Lama in Bomeni of Shankarapur Municipality on Saturday. Police said that Rs 20,000 in cash and gold ornaments were stolen from Lama’s house.

Suspects nabbed

KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday arrested two persons on the charge of robbing Ngema Lama of prayer beads in Dallu on July19. The detainees are Niraj Lama, 18, of Kavre and Kishor Sedai, 25, of Dhading. SP Biwhwa Raj Pokharel said the duo had robbed Ngema of 108 Budhha Chitt Malas pretending to be wanting to purchase the precious prayer beads worth around Rs 3.5 million. The arrestee duo have been charged with robbery.
