CA members, KMC officials honoured
Kathmandu, May 17:
Federation of Kathmandu Durbar Area Conservation and Management today felicitated four Constituent Assembly members, officials of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and a security officer for their contribution in conserving the Hanumandhoka Durbar Square area.
The honoured Constituent Assembly members include: Nabindra Raj Joshi, a resident of KMC Ward No 19; Buddha Sayami of Ward No 20, Dr Mangal Siddhi Manandhar of Ward No 23 and Krishna Amatya of Ward No 25.
Similarly, KMC chief executive officer Dinesh Thapaliya, chief of Hanumandhoka Durbar Area Conservation Programme under the KMC, Raju Shrestha, and inspector at Metropolitan Police Sector Janasewa Anupam Shumsher Rana were felicitated by the federation.
Among the CA members, Joshi was elected to the CA under the direct election on Nepali Congress ticket and Sayami, Manandhar and Amatya were elected under the proportional representation system from Nepa Rastriya Party, CPN-UML and NC, respectively.
“I am a people’s representative, not a ruler. Therefore, I will work for them,” Thapaliya said, addressing the function.
He further said the night market in the Basantapur area was shut down owing to its adverse impact on the heritage site.
Constituent Assembly member Joshi urged the federation to conserve the Kathmandu Durbar Square area. President of the federation, Manoj Newa, opined that local organisations should work for the development of the Basantapur area in coordination with the KMC.
Local organisations involved in only collecting donations in the area should be barred from running any social activity, Newa said.
