Cabinet orders enquiry

Kathmandu, April 20

Minister for Education Dhaniram Paudel today said the Cabinet had ordered the Ministry of Home Affairs to conduct an enquiry into the annual performance evaluation submitted by DIG Nawa Raj Silwal to the Supreme Court.

Minister Paudel said Silwal had submitted annual performance evaluation file to the Supreme Court, saying he had secured the highest marks among DIGs.

“However, the file that the government had does not prove his claim,” said Paudel, adding that an enquiry was ordered to investigate the discrepancy in two files – one submitted by Silwal to the court and the other that the government had.

Silwal has also challenged the government’s decision to promote DIG Prakash Aryal to the post of IGP.

He had also challenged the government first decision to promote DIG Jaya Bahadur Chand to the post of Inspector General of Police which was quashed by the SC.

According to Paudel the Cabinet also asked the Ministry of Home Affairs to respond to the Supreme Court stating what the real marks that Silwal and other candidates had scored.
