Call for amending act related to foreign employment

KATHMANDU: Concerned authorities have stressed the need for changing the foreign employment act and related laws with the changing scenario to manage the issue of foreign employment.

Speaking at a dialogue programme 'Policy Dialogue: State and Business Accountability on Recruitment Abuses' organised jointly by Amnesty International Nepal and Pravasi Nepali Coordination Committee (PNCC), today, Director for the Department of Foreign Employment Bhuvan Prasad Acharya stressed the need for amending the existing act related to foreign employment as it does not address problems currently rampant in the sector.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rabindra Prasad Sharma talked about country's youth being forced or lured into human trafficking under various pretexts.

Secretary of Amnesty International Som Lamichhane highlighted the need for addressing the issue of foreign employment from local levels as well to eradicate related problems.
