Call girl dies while trying to evade arrest

Kathmandu, March 28:

A girl died after falling down from a window of a guest house while trying to prevent being arrested by police.

Police stormed the guest house in search of some hooligans and upon seeing this, Sharmila Lama, 18, who worked as a call girl, tried to jump from the window to the verandah of the adjoining house, but slipped and fell on the ground, SP Devendra Subedi at the Metropolitan Police Crime Division said.

“Police had reached the location after receiving a report about a brawl between to gangs, but they fled the scene and sought refugee in guest houses in the location. When we searched the guest houses, we reached the one in which the girl was staying. She saw us coming into the guest house and tried to escape by jumping on to the verandah of the adjoining house, but slipped and fell down to death,” Inspector Basundhara Khadka at the Metropolitan Police Sector, Sorakhutte, said, adding: “We later learnt that the guest house was running a prostitution racket.”

The police has taken two persons from the guest house in custody for interrogation.
