TANAHAU: Police shot dead twenty-two-year-old Pritam Bista, an inmate of Damauli prison, when he was attempting to break jail last night.Bista was serving a 19-year sentence on the charges of rape and theft. According to DSP Ishwori Chapagain, Bista refused to respond to the guard on duty and was about to jump off the prison wall. “When the warnings went in vain, the guard opened fire,” Chapagain added. A four-member probe team led by assistant chief district officer Thansing Thapa has been formed.
YCL seizes land
RAUTAHAT: A group of YCL cadres today seized 8.5 dhurs of land at Sarmujawa VDC-8 of the district. The YCL cadres have hoisted their party flag on the land belonging to Bijaya Kumar Kushawa, district member of Youth Union Nepal Rautahat, Youth wing of CPN-UML. Issuing a press release, the UML’s Youth Union has condemned the YCL’s act.
