Student attacked

KATHMANDU: A group of two persons attacked Kapur Jung Thapa, of Banepa using an iron rod in Mid Baneshwor on Thursday. Kapur is a student at the Himalayan Whitehouse College. The police have arrested the accused Keshav Thapa of Rautahat and Suvash Thapa of Ramechhap. Suvash is a student at Metro College. Kapur has been undergoing treatment at Norvic Hospital. The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.

Elderly looted

KATHMANDU: Two persons on a Pulsar motorbike looted a gold necklace from an elderly woman at Sangam Chwok, New Baneshwor on Friday. According to the police, the looters had snatched the necklace weighing 3 toals while the woman was walking on the road. The looters are at large.

SC moved in bar row

KATHMANDU: Protector Group Nepal on Friday filed a habeas corpus writ in the Supreme Court to pave the way for the release of 27 working women who were arrested from X-Bar at Sundhara. The police had raided the bar and arrest them on Wednesday night. The restaurant worker women have been charged of indulging in immoral activities under Some Public Offences Act. The writ was filed by PGN president Puja Dhimal, stated a press release issued by PGN.

Husband kills wife

KATHMANDU: Sindhu Maya Acharya of Kalanki, who was severely beaten by her husband, succumbed to injuries on Friday. She had been undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital. Her husband Bhimsen Acharya had beaten her following a family dispute on March 4, the police said. The police have arrested Bhimsen.
