Dance bars raided

KATHMANDU: Police raided three dance bars in the capital on Wednesday night and detained 74 persons for indulging in immoral activities. According to the police, 53 were arrested from X-Bar in Sundhara, 10 from Beer Bar and 11 from Taaj Mahal Restaurant in Thamel. “We acted on a tip-off that the bars were a breeding ground for immoral activities,” said DSP Pradhumna Karki. Many of the detained were released later.

Man abducted

KATHMANDU: An unidentified group of persons abducted Surendra Limbu of Jorpati on Wednesday. According to the police, Limbu had informed his wife over telephone that he had been taken hostage and beaten up by an unidentified men.

Sit-in for statute

KATHMANDU: Three fringe communist parties, the CPN- Unified, CPN- Maoist and the Revolutionary Communist Party staged a sit-in on the premises of Nepal Electricity Authority on Thursday.
