Chakka jam affects valley folks

KATHMANDU:General public was at the receiving end of the two-hour chakka jam called by UCPN-Maoist-affiliated All Nepal Peasants’ Association (ANPA) here on Tuesday.

The ANPA organised the chakka jam to protest President Dr Ram Baran Yadav’s ‘unconstitutional move’ to retain Chief of Army Staff Rookmangud Katawal.

The chakka jam from 10 am to 12 noon brought vehicular movement in the Valley to a standstill, especially at Balaju, Bouddha, Chabahil, Kalimati, Koteshwor, Kupandole, Ratnapark, Lagankhel, Maitighar, Putalisadak and

Suryabinayak.

Hundreds of vehicles heading to their destinations were stuck en route.

Human chains of dozens of Maoist cadres created barricades at major traffic junctions. However, there were no reports of violence.
