Chure Bhawar cadres hurt in clash

Kathmandu, August 8:

A few persons representing the Chure Bhawar Ekata Samaj (CBES) today were hurt during a scuffle with police in front of the Bir Hospital.

The police used force following the traffic disruption while they were rallying towards the Maitighar Mandala. Some four rounds of tear gas shells were fired to disrupt the mass after

police took control over the two corpses of their cadres murdered in Tarai. According to the CBES, injured Koshi-Sagarmatha in-charge Shiva Prasad Tamang is undergoing treatment at the Bir Hospital.

The CBES’s plan to hold a condolence meet at the Maitighar and then perform the last rites of two cadres at the Pashupatinath Aryaghat was averted due to the police intervention.

The police held dozens of the CBES cadres, including its president Keshav Mainali and secretary Badri Neupane before taking them to the Aryaghat along with the corpses. However, CBES leaders refused to perform the last rites, claiming that the police “looted’’ the two corpses.
