CIAA accuses Dixit of not depositing fine

Kathmandu, May 12

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority issued a press release today, saying Sajha Yatayat Chairman Kanak Mani Dixit had not deposited the fine slapped on him by the anti-graft body for his failure to submit property details on time.

The anti-graft body had ordered Dixit and other office bearers of Sajha Yatayat to deposit the fine slapped on them within 30 days and inform the commission thereof.

The anti-graft body had slapped fines on the office bearers and employees of Sajha Yatayat for failing to submit property details for fiscal 2015/16.

The CIAA had slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 each on 24 office bearers and employees of the corporation on March 27. It said other office bearers and employees of the corporation deposited fines on May 8, 2016.

Among them are board members Shankar Raj Joshi, Bandana Thapa, Bhushan Tuladhar and Rudra Paudel and members of Sajha Yatayat accounts committee Laxmi Ratna Bajracharya, Manohar jee Rauniyar and Madahv Raj Ghimire.

Reacting to CIAA’s press release, Dixit said he was not required by the law to submit his property details to the CIAA, yet he submitted his property details to the anti-graft body within the stipulated time.

Dixit also said that he submitted his property details at the concerned ministry within the stipulated time. Dixit accused the CIAA of harbouring prejudice against him.
