CIAA files corruption case against engineer

Kathmandu: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) today filed a corruption case at the Special Court against senior divisional engineer of the Road Department, Guru Prasad Dhakal.

The CIAA has accused Dhakal of amassing cash and property worth Rs 17.5 million by abusing his authority. The CIAA said it filed the case since there was no evidence to prove that Dhakal acquired the property through legal means. "Dhakal has luxurious bungalows in Kathmandu and Chitwan though he has no pare-ntal property to support his present status," the CIAA said. As per the CIAA order, Dhakal was taken into police custody today. — HNS
